Synopsis
In 200,000 years on Earth, humanity has upset the balance of the planet, established by nearly four billion years of evolution. The price to pay is high, but it is too late to be a pessimist: humanity has barely ten years to reverse the trend, become aware of the full extent of its spoliation of the Earth's riches and change its patterns of consumption.

重訪邊城 張愛玲

...要防街邊更深的暗影竄出人來，因此在街心只聽見石板路XXX的腳步聲。古老的街道沒有騎樓，X直，平均地往上斜，相當闊，但是在黑暗中可寬可窄，一個黑胡同。預期的一拳一腳，或是一撞，腦後一悶棍，都在蓄勢躍躍欲試，似有若無在黑暗中像風吸著柔軟的氣球面，時而貼上臉來，又偶一拂過頭髮，擦身而過，僅只前前後後虛晃一招。

...別後不到十年，香港到處在拆建，郵筒半埋在土𥚃也還照常收件。造出來都是白色大廈，與非洲中東海洋洲任何新興都市沒什麼分別。偶有別出心裁的，抽屜式洋台淡橙色與米黄相間，用色膽怯得使人覺得建築師與畫家真是老死不相往來的兩族。

阿基里斯與龜》講述小男孩真知壽（北野武）生長的富裕之家，夢想從為畫家的他，頭戴父親送給他的畫家帽，在紙上畫下一張張眼中的美麗世界。但是經濟泡沫讓父親公司破產，父母雙雙自殺身亡，讓他一下子落難成為貧苦孤兒，從沒放棄夢想的他，一邊打工一邊畫畫。

長大的真知壽一直受到賞識，也沒有成為畫家，但是卻遇上了美麗而善良的幸子，不久後，兩人結婚了，並且一同挑戰各種形式的繪畫，卻還是乏人問津，甚至連小孩都無法諒解他們，家庭更因此出現了危機。

面對重重難關兩夫妻仍不放棄....

Taking its title from Greek philosopher Zeno's famous paradox, Achilles and the Tortoise follows Machisu from his childhood days, pursuing his dream of becoming a famous painter. The middle-aged Machisu is played by Beat Takeshi, and his (quite successful) paintings are also by Kitano.

剛好在六四二十週年前讀完王丹的「獄中回憶錄」。一本十多年前巳買下的書，終於提起心一口氣讀完。今年在多倫多的燭光集會，踫上王丹。當我離遠看著他時，彷彿他剛與我道出千言萬語，實感慨良多。
